Seed Power. Grow Justice.

The North Richmond Farm project builds on Urban Tilth’s two decades of bringing to life a vision developed by residents for healthy food access, local jobs, and community healing. Reclaiming our ancestors’ wisdom in agricultural and community organizing, the farm is an ambitious demonstration project of climate resilience, a Just Transition to a regenerative economy, and liberation for Black and people of color communities. We are in the middle of a transformative five-year, $28M project to build out the farm infrastructure, educational and community buildings, and a climate resiliency hub that will serve as a home base to nurture the future our community wants and needs.

We offer multiple ways for community members to access local, healthy food at discounted rates or free of charge. Our upcoming Farm Store, planned for Phase 3, will offer a permanent daily location where visitors can purchase fresh fruits, vegetables, and products made by us and our small, family BIPOC farm partners.

Through the expansion of our farm, we will create additional opportunities to employ more Richmond residents, reinforcing our commitment to a workforce that is already 85% local. This project will also allow us to continue to inspire, train, and employ more Richmond youth, providing them with valuable skills and meaningful career pathways in sustainable agriculture.

The Farm will serve as an intergenerational hub where knowledge flows between youth and elders, creating meaningful connections that strengthen our community fabric. Our upcoming Resiliency Center will provide year-round community organizing and training in emergency response, CPR, first-aid, and other resilience practices for local residents.
