Lucas Park Activation Project: Building Community Through Health & Sustainability
A partnership between Urban Tilth and the City of Richmond
Welcome to a New Chapter for Lucas Park
Lucas Park is becoming more than just a park, it’s growing into a vibrant community hub where health, joy, and sustainability come together.
Through the Lucas Park Activation Project, we’re bringing neighbors, families, and local organizations together to reimagine how we use, care for, and invest in our shared space.
This is about more than programming, it’s about community power, connection, and creating a future shaped by the people of Richmond. From fresh food to fitness, youth sports to community resources, there’s something here for everyone.
The Mission
Guided by extensive community outreach, Urban Tilth, alongside a strong network of local partners, has been piloting weekly wellness programs at Lucas Park since 2025.
Our mission is to:
- Build a community-driven master plan for the future of Lucas Park
- Promote health and active living
- Create a safe, welcoming space for all ages
- Foster environmental sustainability
Lucas Park Wellness Wednesdays Kickoff

From youth sports and fitness classes to bike repair workshops and fresh food access, Wellness Wednesdays are about creating consistent opportunities for Richmond residents to prioritize health, joy, and community care together.
