In January, staff caught a glimpse of the Executive Director’s mother, Ms. Robinson, alongside Community Advisory Member Ms. Foster, visiting Dr. Henry Clark Plaza at the farm. At that time, the plaza featured gravel, but now bricks and pavers have been laid across the plaza, the History Walk, and the Crop Row Classroom.
The brick patterns were designed to reflect the intricate motifs of Ohlone basketry.
Staff are also hard at work developing content for the History Walk, which will highlight the diverse people groups who have lived in North Richmond, including the Ohlone, Japanese, African American, Black Cowboys, Italians, Portuguese, Laotians, Spanish, and Mexican American communities.
Key themes along the walk will focus on Agriculture, Social Justice, Migration, and the Contributions of Women.
The team looks forward to activating these spaces soon. More updates to come!
