Welcoming the New Year on the Greenway

As the new year unfolds, the team hopes that everyone has been soaking in the mild winter sunlight gently settling over the Greenway. They’ve certainly been enjoying the warmth and are excited to see the communities of people and wildlife slowly return after the cold and rainy season. The Greenway is beginning to come alive again, and the team can’t wait to share it with everyone!

Saffron and Seasonal Blooms

One of the most exciting sights this season is the saffron now blooming along the Greenway. The vibrant yellow flowers serve as a lovely reminder that spring is on the horizon. Plans are also underway to plant more flowers around the 6th St Community Gardens and Unity Park to greet the upcoming change in seasons with a burst of color. The team is eager to hear from the community.

Thank You, Volunteers!

A huge thank you goes out to the volunteers from LifeLong Medical Care, who kicked off the year by helping weed the pollinator beds. Winter is the perfect time to tend to the gardens, as most plants from the recent rains haven’t started dropping seeds yet. This creates a valuable window of time for the team to remove invasive growth and make room for plants and seeds that will intentionally add beauty and support local pollinators throughout the year.

Join Us for MLK Day of Service

If you’re looking for a way to make a positive impact this year, consider joining us for our MLK Day of Service on January 20th from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. It’s a great opportunity to give back to the Greenway and connect with others who are passionate about caring for our public green spaces. We can’t wait to see you there and continue making this space a place for all to enjoy.

Let’s make 2025 a year of growth, connection, and beauty on the Greenway!
