Growing Green Leaders

Today we’re celebrating the graduation of 8 young West County residents from our ‘Basins of Relations’ Watershed Restoration Training Program!

Over the past 15 weeks, these young adults have cared for the waters and natural spaces here in Richmond, propagated hundreds of native plants to support these natural spaces, built skills in green infrastructure design/maintenance, greywater system installation, erosion control (and more!), learned about environmental justice and the just transition to a fossil-fuel-free community, and gained tools to fight for a livable planet. It’s been so inspiring to see these young leaders grow and we can’t wait to see what they achieve next. Photos attached are from a recent trip to explore the foothills of Mount Tamalpais.

Thanks to the California Department of Conservation and Strategic Growth Council for their support of this transformative program.
