The North Richmond Farm has been busy this season.
- A cover crop of buckwheat was broadcasted this summer to help make nutrients more available, improve soil structure, add organic matter, and support water infiltration and erosion control.
- Pumpkins were harvested and will be donated to this year’s Halloween Land event at the Greenway.
- The greenhouse team continues to grow a variety of plant starts for the community. They invite input on what crops should be grown next year.
- A hands-on workshop was hosted with Willow Holiday where volunteers learned to make fish fertilizer, vermicompost tea, and willow water, exploring low-cost ways to build long-term soil fertility and sustainability.
- The team has also been saving seeds from tomatoes, tomatillos, crimson clover, and flowers. Community members who joined the seed saving event earlier this year are invited to share updates on their progress.
Volunteer opportunities are available on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9–12pm, or every 4th Saturday.
