We’re putting our energy into transforming the farm with several exciting construction projects. At the heart of this effort is the Main Barn House, which will become the new home for the CSA team to pack fresh produce. Previously, all washing and packing happened outside, rain or shine, but this new space will keep both staff and produce safe and protected. The building will also include a community room and serve as a resiliency center during severe weather.
Meanwhile, the History Walk installation has begun, featuring a brick design drafted by Bay Tree Design based on traditional Ohlone basketry patterns from the Richmond area. This first section of the walk will run along the main pathway from the entrance at Fred Jackson Way to San Pablo Creek and will be fully ADA-accessible, ensuring all visitors, volunteers, and staff can enjoy it.
In addition, permeable pavers have been installed in the driveway and Dr. Henry Clark Plaza, providing ADA accessibility while allowing stormwater to filter through the soil, removing pollutants and recharging the aquifer.
We’re also thrilled to share progress on The Sweet Spot, a brand-new space at the farm that will be ready by early summer. This area will host beekeeping activities, from caring for hives and harvesting honey to hands-on lessons that teach visitors how to support pollinators at home.
After a small funding hiccup, we’re back on track and moving forward. With our construction permit now extended through April 2026, our first goal is to raise $400,000 by December 2025 to complete Phase 2, which includes the outdoor classrooms and keeps the project moving forward.
