CA State Senator Jesse Arreguín Visits the North Richmond Farm

On Thursday, October 9th, we were excited to welcome District 7 California State Senator Jesse Arreguín and his team to the North Richmond Farm!

During his visit, we shared the history and impact of our work, our vision for the future, and the challenges we’re facing after the termination of the EPA Community Change Grant.

Senator Arreguín toured the farm, met staff, community members, and volunteers, and saw firsthand the completed Community Resiliency Center foundation, a building we can no longer complete without those critical EPA funds.

He also spent time with our Farm Nursery Manager, Mrs Maria, who shared the joy of growing thousands of plant starts each year, not only for Urban Tilth’s farms and gardens, but also for dozens of local schools and community gardens.

We talked about how much more impact we could make with the completion of the new, much larger greenhouse.

Senator Arreguin met our new student intern, Michael Chin, and the Rudy Lozito Fellows as they created beautiful marigold garlands for our upcoming 20th Anniversary Celebration on Saturday, October 11th.

We’re hopeful that this visit marks the beginning of new interest and support needed to continue to grow this transformative work in Richmond.

Thank you so much for sharing your time and thoughts with u,s Senator Arreguin.
