Clean Air Month
Each May, the United States observes Clean Air Month, a nationwide campaign established by the American Lung Association in 1972 to raise awareness about the link between air quality and respiratory health.
In a similar effort, California recognizes its own Clean Air Day on the first Wednesday of October, encouraging residents across the state to take part in actions that promote healthier air for all. Rooted in the belief that shared experiences can inspire collective action, California Clean Air Day invites individuals and organizations to take the Clean Air Pledge, committing to changes both big and small that contribute to cleaner air across the state’s diverse communities.
Urban Tilth makes an effort each year to find creative ways to share information about teh connections between respiratory and other chronic diseases and indoor and outdoor air pollution, climate change, and environmental justice.
Asthma Town Hall Meetings
To honor 2025 California Clean Air Day Urban Tilth will host a series of mini Asthma Town Hall Meetings and educational sessions at local schools. These gatherings will offer opportunities for residents to learn more about the impacts of air pollution and engage directly with experts working to combat its impacts. Through open dialogue, resource sharing, and collective visioning, Urban Tilth hopes to empower community members with knowledge and tools to protect the health of their neighborhoods and advocate for a cleaner, more breathable future.
