Water Conservation Program
Services offered:
- Free laundry-to-landscape greywater recycling systems

- Free efficiency improvements for landscape watering (e.g. drip irrigation, timers)
- Free rainwater catchment systems (limited availability)
Generously funded by a Transformative Climate Communities grant from the Strategic Growth Council and the Department of Conservation, this program will install laundry-to-landscape greywater systems, water catchment systems, and drip irrigation systems free of charge for Richmond residents in the Iron Triangle, Santa Fe, and Coronado neighborhoods.
Greywater systems re-use slightly dirtied water from your laundry machine to water plants in your yard. Water catchment systems collect rainwater as it drains off your roof, for use in irrigation.
These water recycling systems will beautify our community, supporting lush native plants and fruit trees, will reduce water waste and save residents money on water bills, and will increase our community’s resilience in the face of severe drought and other climate-related disasters.
