WTS Update

WTS Update these past two weeks the watershed crew has been gaining some knowledge that we can apply at the sites we work at! Albany’s Urban forester/arborist John gave us a demo on how to properly trim tree branches. The 3-cut method can provide a clean cut, the tree can heal faster, and can prevent the death of branches/trees. Susan from Friends of Five Creeks showed us how to use a temperature logger that tracks temperatures and data in our creeks. We also got to visit the Dominican University of California where scientists gave a presentation on Phytophthora ramorum known as sudden oak death and Boxwood blight(another disease affecting Boxwood ) we got to test some leaves, learn about soil steam sterilization and much more! (extra pics of the cool stuff we saw 🥺)
