Throw Back Thursday

Today, we’re taking a moment to reflect on the amazing work of our Summer Youth Apprenticeship Program (SYAP) graduates! This summer, our apprentices poured their heart and soul into projects that brought positive change to the Richmond community, leaving a lasting impact.

Our apprentices were all over the Richmond area, caring for the community gardens along the Richmond Greenway, where they cultivated the land and nurtured its growth. They also took charge of stewarding the Eastbay watersheds, working to protect and preserve our local environment. Along the way, they highlighted the stories of Richmond residents, shedding light on the voices that make this community so special. At the Crescent Park Resource Center, they built bridges and created a space for connection and growth, bringing people together with every effort.

At The North Richmond Farm, our apprentices didn’t just work the land, they sowed seeds, tended to crops, and prepared delicious, nutrient-dense meals for the community.

In addition, our Orchard For All team made incredible strides by gleaning hundreds of pounds of fruit from the homes of Richmond neighbors, helping reduce food waste and increase local food access. The team also planted a new orchard at Richmond High School.

Here’s to our incredible apprentices!
