When people think of heroes, they often picture capes and extraordinary superpowers. But along the Richmond Greenway Trail, our heroes wear wide-brimmed hats, gloves, and sturdy boots or shoes. Their superpowers are patience, strength, and an unwavering love for this land , even when faced with daily challenges.
Our Garden Guardians Team shows up day after day to nurture the trail, transforming soil and seeds into food, beauty, safe spaces and connection for our community. They pull weeds, plant trees, harvest vegetables, pick up trash, and care for the spaces where our neighbors come to learn, heal, and grow together.
Each shovel, rake, and watering can they use helps build something greater, a greener, healthier Richmond. Their hands may be covered in dirt, but their work shines with pride and purpose.
To our Garden Guardians, thank you for reminding us that real heroes grow hope, one garden bed at a time.
