North Richmond’s Strong Kickoff to 2025

As March rolls in, the North Richmond Farm team is reflecting on the busy and successful start to the year. From community events to wellness workshops, the farm has been a hub of activity and engagement in the first few months of 2025.

January: Dr. King Day at the Farm

The year kicked off with a meaningful celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day at the farm. The event was a vibrant day of community building, planting, and artistic expression. Local residents gathered together to honor Dr. King’s legacy while contributing to the farm’s growth and development. The day was filled with collaboration, creating lasting memories and fostering connections among community members.

February: Zimbabwean Wellness Tea Blending Workshop

In February, the farm hosted a unique and educational event focused on wellness. A masterclass on Zimbabwean wellness tea blending was offered, teaching attendees about the benefits of herbal teas for relaxation and remedying various ailments. The workshop was not only informative but also a chance for participants to unwind and experience the healing power of nature.

February: North Richmond Community Advisory Committee Tour

Also in February, the North Richmond Community Advisory Committee visited the farm for a special tour led by construction manager Adele. The committee members had the opportunity to witness the farm’s continued progress firsthand. One of the highlights of the tour was the Watershed Workshop’s Truth Window, which features denim insulation, showcasing an innovative and sustainable approach to building materials at the farm.

March: Annual Fruit Tree Giveaway

Looking ahead, March promises to be another exciting month for the North Richmond Farm. The team will be at Verde, serving North Richmond residents during their annual fruit tree giveaway. This long-standing tradition provides local families with the opportunity to plant their own fruit trees, contributing to both the beautification of the neighborhood and the community’s access to fresh, homegrown produce.

Through these initiatives and ongoing projects, North Richmond Farm continues to be a vital space for community engagement, wellness, and environmental stewardship.
