The team has been hard at work building a strong community orchard in Richmond and is excited to share recent progress. With community support, the program harvested 421 pounds of fruit in October and redistributed it through the Free Farm Stands at Unity Park and Lucas Park on Wednesdays.
Community members with surplus fruit are encouraged to reach out. The team is happy to pick up and share seasonal produce such as dates, grapefruits, oranges, persimmons, pomegranates, pineapple guavas, and apples.
The program will also launch its winter apprenticeship soon. Young adults ages 18 to 24 who are interested in learning about fruit trees and tree care can apply beginning December 19, 2025.
Together, the community continues to grow a healthier and more connected Richmond.
Orchard for All is supported by the California Strategic Growth Council’s Transformative Climate Communities Program, which focuses on strengthening the economy and improving public health and the environment.
