The farm team has been hard at work planting the final crops of the season and preparing the land for its winter rest. This fall, they’ve sown a diverse mix of seasonal crops, including lettuce, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, kale, and collards, with garlic soon to be planted as the final addition. The team has been in awe of the beauty of the fall crops and blooms, and hopes the community is enjoying them as well.
A recent highlight came when a hummingbird flew remarkably close, sipping nectar from the nasturtiums, a hopeful sign that wildlife is feeling more at ease as the team continues to care for the land.
Dee recently shared how to use the BCS hand tractor to manage weeds, build healthy soil, and ease the strain of farm work. The team extends deep gratitude to all the volunteers who lent a hand last month and invites everyone to join them this Saturday, October 25, for one of the final Volunteer Days of the season. Let’s finish strong, save seeds, and cultivate together!
