The North Richmond Farm has been buzzing with activity, so here’s an update on what’s been happening so far this spring.
Harvests, Farm Maintenance, and New Plantings
The farm team has been harvesting fresh produce for the CSA and Free Farm Stand, with an abundance of lettuce, cauliflower, and cabbage available each week. At the same time, they’ve been working on sheet mulching pathways using recycled cardboard boxes from the CSA to reduce weeds and maintain healthy soil. Additionally, new crops such as kale, broccoli, collards, radishes, strawberries, lemon cucumbers, and flowers have been planted, in preparation for a productive season.
Community Engagement and Volunteer Support
The farm’s amazing admin team took a break from their usual work to join in on the action, assisting with transplanting and other farm tasks. The community also came together for the farm’s monthly volunteer event, which included the first Spring Fling, a fun and productive day of work and celebration.
Greenhouse and Summer Fruits
The greenhouse is now filled with summer fruits, which the farm team is excited to share with the community as they continue to grow and ripen.
With the continued support of the community, the North Richmond Farm is thriving. Stay tuned for more updates and check out the video showcasing this update on Instagram below!
