Creative Projects and Plant Studies at the Verde Partnership Garden

Exploring the Wonders of Soil and Nature

This month, students at Verde Partnership Garden have been busy exploring the wonders of soil and nature through a variety of hands-on activities. Students focused on the topic of soil composition, dedicating their time to testing the flexibility of the local clay. Through this experiment, they developed a better understanding of the soil’s properties and its potential uses, providing valuable insights into how the earth can be shaped and molded.

Bird Unit: Creative Reconstructions

As part of their bird unit, some students had the opportunity to recreate birds they observed, using their creativity, clay and foliage. The team hopes this hands-on project allowed them to gain a deeper appreciation for the diverse species of birds while honing their artistic skills using nature. In the middle school classes, the focus shifted to plant lineages and cell biology. Students began their studies with the fascinating world of moss and fern reproduction. Allowing them to explore plant biology and serve as a stepping stone for future studies in the field.
