In week 4 the Watershed summer apprentices focused on the importance of ecosystem biodiversity. We learned about trophic levels and ecosystem roles and applied that to understand the creek environments we work in. On Wednesday the apprentices collaborated with the Added Value team to make herbal salves using native plants (mugwort, white sage, and yarrow), love and intention. We also got some extra help finishing the painting on our greenhouse tables! And Farm Yoga! We again met up with the Added Value crew for a trip to the California Academy of Sciences where we learned about several different ecosystems across our beloved mother earth, including coral reefs, tropical rainforests, and coastal kelp forests!
