It’s volunteer season at the Greenway, and there’s so much happening! From migratory birds basking in the morning sun to the growth of a new strawberry garden, this time of year is filled with exciting projects and plenty of opportunities for the community to get involved.
Thanks to the dedication of the Greenway’s amazing volunteers, this month has seen significant progress in both the pollinator garden and the fruit tree orchard. Volunteers have worked tirelessly to ensure these spaces thrive, bringing them closer to their full potential.
Volunteer Opportunity
For anyone looking to join in the fun, the next volunteer event will take place at Unity Park on February 15th from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. It’s the perfect chance to roll up your sleeves, get outdoors, and contribute to making the park even more beautiful. Everyone is encouraged to join and be part of the ongoing efforts to enhance the Greenway’s spaces.

VistAbility Volunteers Make an Impact
Among the standout volunteers are the VistAbility team, who have been working hard on a variety of tasks. They’ve been weeding the fruit tree orchard and giving the lavender garden some much-needed care. However, one of the most exciting initiatives they’ve taken on is a new strawberry project. The team is experimenting with a combination of cultivated and Alpine strawberry varieties, carefully arranging them in a special pattern designed to encourage strong, healthy roots.

Get Involved!
If you ever find yourself walking through the Greenway gardens in the morning, you might catch sight of mist rising from the raised beds or see migratory birds soaking up the early sunlight. The Greenway is truly a place of quiet beauty and wonder, offering small moments of magic to those who take the time to enjoy them.
The Greenway team is always looking for more volunteers to help nurture the land and continue these efforts. Whether it’s through gardening, clean-up, or other tasks, there’s a spot for everyone to contribute. Come and be a part of this vibrant, growing community!
