Join the Urban Tilth Summer Youth Apprentice Program (SYAP)
2024 for a Life-Changing Summer!
Richmond, CA – April 2024 – The Urban Tilth Summer Youth Apprentice Program (SYAP) is back and better than ever, offering an exciting opportunity for West Contra Costa youth aged 15-19 to embark on a transformative journey this summer.
SYAP is not just another summer job; it’s a chance for young people to discover their potential, develop leadership skills, and make a real difference in their community. Through hands-on training, mentorship, and engaging community projects, participants will explore environmental justice, food sovereignty, and cultivate resources for the Richmond community.
This six-week program will run Monday -Thursday from July 1, 2024 to August 9th, 2024, and will immerse youth in various project sites across Richmond, including community gardens, creek restoration areas, storytelling and film, and farming sites. Alongside experienced professionals, participants will learn valuable skills, steward the land, and foster connections with their community.
Highlights of the SYAP 2024 include:
– $1,500 Stipend: Upon completion of the 100-hour program, youth will receive a stipend as a token of appreciation for their dedication and hard work.
– Community Engagement: SYAP participants will actively engage in community outreach activities, contributing to the enhancement of Richmond’s urban environment.
– Empowerment Workshops: From communication skills to leadership development, a series of workshops and activities will empower youth to become agents of change in their communities.
