Urban Tilth takes a trip to Occidental Arts and Ecology Center to learn about water systems and better ways to deal with our poop!
Urban Tilth went on a little field trip to the Occidental Arts & Ecology Center on June 29, 2019, to learn a lot about WATER and especially take time to learn about the potential of composting toilets for the North Richmond Farm!
We are on a mission to include a composting toilet in our final North Richmond Farm design so in an effort to learn more…we are gearing up to connect with our friends at OAEC who have embarked on a research project to make composting toilets a more accessible option for people, especially now when every ounce of potable water is increasingly more important.
- Here is OAEC’s great short animated video on composting toilets: https://youtu.be/JLl4KqtmAck
- Learn more about OAEC’s composting toilet research project here: https://oaec.org/…/projects-and…/compost-toilet-project/
- Read BASINS OF RELATIONS to learn more about what we can do to restore our watersheds: https://oaec.org/…/BoR-3rd-Edition-WEB_ReduceSize2018.pdf
Thank you to Occidental Arts Ecology Center and Brock, Kat, Miriam for a phenomenal introduction to Watershed Ecology and the importance of water conservation especially in the face of Climate Change!
Thank you to our architect team from Noll & Tam who came along so help us make sure we can make this happen in Richmond.
We look forward to pushing on to design and install a composting toilet that saves precious drinking water at the North Richmond Farm
