Recently, several volunteer groups have made their way to the Greenway, lending a hand at both Unity Park and the Greenway Community Garden. These volunteers have been hard at work, removing invasive weeds that have sprung up across the sites. Their efforts are part of an ongoing project to prepare for the next round of crops and flowers. Among the most exciting new additions are freshly planted chard and thriving blueberry plants, both of which are flourishing thanks to the time and care put in by volunteers and Greenway team.
Return of the Insects
In addition to the volunteers, the return of various insects marks a welcome sign of the season’s shift. Bees and butterflies, which rely on warm weather to fuel their bodies, have made their way back to the Greenway. As the sun continues to shine and flowers bloom longer, these colorful insects are making their debut, bringing life and vibrancy to the Greenway’s landscape.

For those looking to get more involved, the Greenway is hosting its 3rd Saturday Volunteer Day this weekend. On Saturday, volunteers are invited to join the team at Unity Park from 10 am to 1 pm to contribute to the ongoing efforts and enjoy the fresh air.
