Apply by Friday, May 23 to be a Summer Youth Apprentice! This program hosts 40 West County youth at community garden, creek restoration, and farming sites across Richmond, CA where the youth will spend 6-weeks (100 hrs) learning about environmental justice, food justice, story telling, food sovereignty and working alongside our staff to steward land and cultivate resources for our community!
*The program is open to West Contra Costa youth ages 15-19 years old, and will run Monday -Thursday from 9am-1pm from June 30, 2025 – August 8, 2025. July 4th will be a holiday.
The program includes workshops, field trips, guest speakers from people working various environmental, farming, social justice and land management fields, hands on learning work days, and a 4-day/3-night camping trip to Spring Lake Campground from July 21, 2025 – July 24, 2025!
In 2025, we will be hosting youth apprentices in the following Project Areas:
- North Richmond Farm: 323 Brookside Drive, North Richmond
- North Richmond Storytellers: 355 Brookside Dr, Richmond, CA 94801 Learn to film, conduct interviews, and edit short videos to tell the stories of North Richmond’s Senior Residents.
- Greenway Community Gardens: 16th street and 6th Street along the Richmond Greenway
- Watershed Restoration Crew: Various locations along Wildcat Creek & Cerrito Creek
- Ujima “Collective Work and Responsibility”: Crescent Park Apartment Community Garden
Upon completion of the 100 hours of the program youth will receive a $1,500.00 stipend.
If participants complete less than 100 hours they will be paid whatever percentage of the stipend that they complete.
