North Richmond Farm Volunteer Day

Join us this 4th Saturday for Volunteer Day! Come lend a hand as we prepare the farm for spring with some hands-on tasks, and inspire the next generation through a fun youth activity. Let’s grow together and celebrate our progress!

Please remember to bring:

• • A water bottle
  • Clothes you don’t mind getting dirty
  • Layers for changing weather

Participants can also get their soil tested!

To participate in the free lead screening and soil nutrients testing, please bring your soil samples according to these instructions:

Step 1: Identify an area of interest for your soil sample.

Step 2: Collect Soil – For a large area, collect soil from 5-10 random spots in that area, and combine in a clean container. For a small area, collect soil from 3 random spots and combine in a clean container. (depth of about 6 inches per spot)

Step 3: Mix soil well in clean container.

Step 4: Remove pebbles, rocks, and roots, and air dry. Do not use a flame, oven or hairdryer to dry the soil!

Step 5: Transfer 1 – 2 cups of the mixed soil into a clean one-quart Ziplock bag

Step 6: Bring your sample to this volunteer day and we will test it and have the results for you by the end of the volunteer day.
