The Black Caucus is an Urban Tilth collective dedicated to amplifying the voices of self-identified Black residents.
We center the voices, values, and leadership of Black folks in the community, in all aspects of Urban Tilth’s work. Through monthly meetings and special events, we create opportunities for the local Black community to shape our work in food justice, environmental stewardship, and community healing. Young Black leaders drive our initiatives while drawing strength from elders’ wisdom, weaving together education, activism, and celebration—from workshops on agricultural heritage to community meals that honor our cultural traditions and spotlight Black excellence.
Our Focus Areas:
- Agriculture
- We offer events and programming designed to promote sustainable farming practices and food sovereignty. Join us in cultivating knowledge and skills that empower our community to thrive.
- Activism
- We actively engage in community organizing and advocacy efforts that address the needs and rights of the Black community. Together, we can create meaningful change.
- Music & Culture
- Join us in celebrating Black culture and excellence through vibrant music and art events! Our gatherings are a space for joy, creativity, and connection–highlighting the richness of our heritage.
