On May 13, we kicked off Lucas Park Wellness Wednesdays, launching 16 weeks of free community programming designed to bring neighbors together through health, recreation, and connection.
One father of five shared how much his family appreciates having consistent activities happening within walking distance of their home. He explained that his children now look forward to seeing what’s happening at the park each week and how the increased activity has made the space feel more welcoming.
Raul, 58, was reluctant to join us on the pickleball courts due to knee pain and having suffered a stroke just three months earlier. After some encouragement, he gave the sport a try and quickly fell in love with it, playing alongside his daughter, Arely. He now promises to bring his family to Wellness Wednesdays whenever he can.
Parents are seeing more families gathering at Lucas Park, and stories like Raul’s demonstrate what happens when people feel welcomed into shared spaces. These moments show that our work is helping transform public space into a place of connection, health, and belonging. Consistent programming is creating reasons for people to come together, build relationships, and invest in their well-being.
Every Wednesday through August 26, join us for youth soccer, youth baseball, basketball, pickleball, Zumba, the Senior Walking Club, bike repair workshops, and more.
