Seeds, Stories, and Community

Led by our herbalist, Diana, the summer seed saving event at the North Richmond Farm was a warm and engaging celebration of shared knowledge and community care. Set in the very fields where we save many of our own seeds for native plants and vegetables, participants learned practical seed saving techniques while deepening their understanding of why seed stewardship and adaptation are essential for resilient local food systems. Attendees took part in a hands-on seed adaptation project, connected over a vibrant seed swap, and gained insight into how these seeds support the crops we grow and distribute throughout the community. With snacks, thoughtful conversation, and time spent learning together on the land, the event was both educational and uplifting, leaving people inspired to continue saving, sharing, and growing seeds at home.
