What Families Are Facing Today
We’re living in unprecedented times when families are struggling now more than ever. With the anticipated cuts to SNAP and WIC benefits, both due to the federal government shutdown and the proposed new federal budget, along with skyrocketing healthcare costs, we are facing a looming crisis in our nation’s social safety net.
Critical sources of federal funding that once kept families nourished have disappeared. Recent program cuts have reduced support for local farms and food access initiatives, leaving many of our neighbors in survival mode.
Here in Richmond, Urban Tilth is already seeing an increasing need for our FREE Food Box Program, FREE CSA, and FREE Farm Stand. To meet this growing demand, we are proactively launching the Family to Family Campaign, a community-powered effort that allows families to help one another through this crisis by raising the funds needed to keep our neighbors fed.
Together, we can ensure Urban Tilth continues its delivery of fresh, healthy produce to local families through 2026.

$200 provides a month of healthy food for a family of four
$50 provides a week of healthy food for a family of four

Our Plan
Our overall goal is to raise $50,000 by March 22, 2026. We’ll reach this goal in three milestones:
- Milestone #1: $15,000 by Giving Tuesday (December 2, 2025)
- Milestone #2: $50,000 by 12AM December 31, 2025
- Milestone #3: $75,000 by Team Tilth Race Day at the Oakland Running Festival (March 22, 2026)
Your contribution to our second milestone helps plant the seeds for a season of giving that will grow through March 2026 and ensure families across Richmond continue to have access to fresh, local, and nourishing food.
